When you peel the coke-knee-red wax off the fourth bottle of Balkan to the Bones Four Rakias Oak Aged Imperial Milk Stout and open it ritualistically, you’ll understand why the brewing of rakia is a religious cult for Serbs. The guys from Raketa rakia bar advised us to choose a brutal quince brandy from Takovo – a town with few people, but with gooooolem balls. We soaked oak chips with it. We even wanted to soak in it. We were baptized in the Orthodox way like Dusan Vlahovic before a match with Switzerland and waited for the flavors to combine.
